Here's a profile of our awesome healthcare tutor Mehak
After several years running her own private dental practice in India, dental surgeon Mehak sold her practice and moved to New Zealand for a new adventure. Although she was originally planning to practice dentistry here, life Down Under has taken her in an unexpected and “far more rewarding” direction. Through working as a youth worker, a disability worker, and a teachers’ aide in a special needs school, Mehak has tapped into her love of teaching. She completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health at AUT (to add to her Bachelor of Dental Surgery), and prior to joining Ignite Colleges she worked for another tertiary provider as a Level 6 Healthcare Management tutor.
“Being a dental surgeon is very lucrative, but I am finding teaching far more satisfying. I love sharing my knowledge with my students and really enjoy the classroom dynamics. The students have such rich experiences to share – I love the exchange of energy! My classes are lively and interactive, and we laugh a lot. Healthcare is a great sector to get into in New Zealand because it’s fast-growing. Our students are getting great jobs after studying with us. The more they learn about healthcare, the greater their opportunities are.”
